Reducing electricity costs & improving power supply resilience

Water companies operate over 30,000 electricity supplies across the United Kingdom and the majority of their energy use comes from pumping. Pumping is necessary for the water network and the amount of water pumped is highly unlikely to decrease, as water companies must meet demand. Installing new pumps and drives would not be economically viable, unless they reduced energy consumption by more than 25%. Pumping of water is considered to be the biggest energy cost.
