Preventing leaks of insulating gases from outdoor electrical switchgear through prevention of corrosion
The electricity network operators have electrical equipment on their networks which contains a variety of gases to provide electrical insulation. Some of this equipment is situated outdoors, exposed to inclement weather and airborne pollutants. If the equipment corrodes this could allow the gases to leak. Our partners are seeking solutions to prevent or reduce corrosion and so prevent leaks of insulating gases.
