Underground distribution network is made up of cables, joints and link boxes, which are subject to age-related deterioration which causes cable faults, leading to disruption in power supply. Before electricity supplies can be restored, accurate identification of the fault location is required. Fault Passage Indicators allow operational staff to establish which set of links needs to be removed to restore electricity supply for customers. Without the use of a Fault Passage Indicator that is compatible with LV link boxes, the process by which fault location is identified is challenging and time consuming. Through this call for innovation, UKPN wish to identify a Fault Passage Indicator which will be compatible for use within all designs of LV link boxes.”
