Augmented Reality to Improve Customer Engagement

The Opportunity

The objective of this Opportunity is to shortlist the submissions that best answer the brief, with the aim of attending a presentation day with the EIC Industry Partners, where it can be discussed in greater detail with a technical panel.


What is the Problem?

Northern Gas Networks, together with partners Northumbria Water, Northern Powergrid and Newcastle University, are due to launch a whole energy systems development and demonstration facility. This will provide a space for industry, academia, SMEs, and government to explore and test new energy technologies to help drive domestic decarbonisation.


Currently, there is no method to communicate information about the variety of buildings and technologies on show, and there is concern that this may result in reduced engagement and enthusiasm from site attendees. Furthermore, the network is not currently able to comprehensively demonstrate its facility whilst offsite, attending conferences and roadshows.


Preferred Output

Northern Gas Networks are seeking interactive solutions to enhance levels of engagement on-site at Futures Close, applying use of AR (or other digital techniques) as an informative platform for use when entering the site and experiencing the walk around of each property.
