On 5 May 2022, the Energy Innovation Showcase & Awards took place at the Titanic Hotel, Liverpool. After the Innovation Safari, where innovators got the opportunity to display their technologies and connect with our network partners, the main awards ceremony was held. Sustainability had a big night, with a handful of the winners taking home awards for their work in reaching net-zero goals.
Described as promising high potential to enable positive environmental change on the journey to net-zero, Allume won the award for Best Innovation – Electricity for their entry, SolShare: Rooftop Solar for Apartments. The Culture of Innovation Award was won by Enzen for their Mission: Sustainability Programme, which provides sustainability resources for schools, and elsewhere, Young Innovator of the Year Dale Colley was praised by our judging panel as “the perfect example of a young, entrepreneurial innovator” whose work has huge potential to help achieve challenging net-zero targets.
The Net Zero Impact Award was a highly contested category itself, with entries from Wondrwall Energy, Octopus Energy, Enzen, GE Power Conversion, BlockDox, EuroSite Power, CageCapture Ltd and Farad.ai making the final shortlist. Ultimately, the award went to Wondrwall Energy for their Intelligent Renewable Home Electricity entry. Wondrwall was acclaimed for developing a “great solution for optimising energy in the home” with the vital objective of tackling low-carbon domestic heat.
The large portion of entries tackling sustainability goes to show that the industry is fully focused in taking on net-zero challenges. As we continue the drive towards net-zero, the EIC will continue to showcase and support innovators who show keen skill in this field of innovation.
