We sat down with Jack Hewitt, our Graduate Innovation Engineer, to find out about his engineering background, his biggest life achievement, and why Gareth Bale would be one of his top dinner party guests!
Please can you tell us about your role at the EIC?
I’m a Graduate Innovation Engineer. I work with gas and electricity distribution networks to help them find and implement innovation.
Can you tell us a bit about your engineering background?
I graduated in 2021 with a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering. I’ve done previous work experience in the oil and gas sector as an intern consultant.
I wanted to join the EIC to get involved in innovation and help with the strive towards net-zero. That’s always been important for where I want my career to head, so being able to get involved with a company that is helping to implement that is great.
What is your biggest achievement?
I’m a member of a band, and we won a national competition in 2014. We had a real team spirit, there were a lot of us that were a similar age, we’d come through a youth organisation together and had been playing together since we were kids. To see it all come together on stage was really rewarding.
What is your favourite thing about working at the EIC so far?
The people – definitely. Everyone has been so helpful and friendly and a good laugh in the office too! It’s great to be getting back to seeing people in person.
If you could invite any 3 people (living or deceased) to a dinner party, who would you invite and why?
Gareth Bale would be one of them – he’s a Welsh footballing icon. Alex Ferguson, the best football manager of all time. Lastly, Gordon Ramsey, so someone can cook dinner!
