Theft of gas
Gas Distribution Networks (GDNs) are responsible for responding to suspected cases of gas theft, either where there is an illegal connection or where there is not a gas supply contract in place with a registered gas supplier. In an instance where an illegal connection has been made, the site is made safe by an engineer and the case is referred to the registered supplier for the site. Safety and ensuring that gas is paid for by the user, and not funded through other customers’ bills, are the two key drivers for this challenge.
Please note: Industry Challenges do not have a set timescale or deadline by which solutions are required. Responses to Industry Challenges are reviewed and shortlisted by the EIC, taking into consideration our partners` needs.
Should your proposal be shortlisted by the EIC, a pre-agreed timeline of how/when proposals will be reviewed and shared with our industry partners will be provided.
