Predictive Maintenance of Wastewater Pumps

Pumps are essential for controlling the transportation of wastewater or sewage, which frequently contains solid substances. Generally, submersible pumps are used for transportation of raw sewage, yet centrifugal, positive displacement and progressive cavity pumps are also employed, depending on the exact application. Pumps and the pumping of water are one of the highest operational costs for a water company and so pump performance is a key priority. A water company can have roughly 2500 pumping stations and 850 treatment works in operation, which will require constant maintenance.
