The DNOs have developed some methods of identifying charging points connected to the network, but the known locations remain relatively low. These methods are not the most efficient or cost effective, as they can only capture a small portion of the charging points connected to the network.

Therefore, the DNOs have difficulty in:

• Identifying areas where there has been proliferation of EVs
• Managing the network demand 
• Planning network activities ahead appropriately (e.g. deciding where/when to reinforce specific parts of the network due to load uptake)
