We sat down with Sameer Thakare, our new Business Intelligence and Digitisation Lead, to find out about his work experience, what he likes about the EIC so far, and why Toto Wolff would be one of his top dinner party guests!

Please can you tell us about your role at the EIC?

I am Business Intelligence and Digitisation Lead. I have been hired to handle the IT side of things, digitising everything, reducing the manual work. I also help to create new reports for the stakeholders and business leaders.

Can you tell us a bit about your work background?

I am originally from India, and I did my undergrad degree in Computer Science Engineering in 2020 at Pune University and then decided to pursue my masters at Queen’s University Belfast in the UK in 2021.

I used to work as a business analyst. I’m quite new to the world of work but happy to be here!

What is your biggest achievement?

From 2019, I overcame a lot of health problems. I was in an accident where I dislocated my shoulder and broke my jaw. I was told by doctors I likely wouldn’t be able to come to the UK. Nevertheless, I made it. I overcame all of this to complete my masters at Queens in Belfast.

What is your favourite thing about working at the EIC so far?

I think the thing I have noticed so far is the working environment, the company culture. You get a sense of how people are; they give you freedom to work how you believe is best, they trust you. The company culture at the EIC is a very supportive environment all around.

I joined the EIC because when you work at small companies you are much more hands-on and get to learn a lot more. This is what I’m looking forward to: hands-on experience.

If you could invite anyone (living or deceased) to a dinner party, who would you invite and why?

I would invite the Queen! I am a big fan of the Queen and I want to meet her. I would also choose the CEO of Mercedes Benz F1 team, Toto Wolff. He came from nothing and has made a great deal of himself. I think that’s really inspiring, he’s a very inspiring person.
