We sat down with Nathan Dyke, Innovation Engineer, to find out why he enjoys working at the EIC, his biggest life achievement, and why Rory McIlroy would be one of his top 3 dinner party guests!

Please can you tell us about your role at the EIC?

My role as Innovation Engineer is all about speaking with our network partners and innovator community.

I work to identify the problems that networks have and find solutions from the innovator community and beyond. My job involves identifying development projects or market-ready products to take to business-as-usual (BAU).

Can you tell us a bit about your engineering background?

I’m a physicist! I decided to join the EIC as I wanted to understand more about the energy system and how it works in the real world.

I decided to take this opportunity, to work on a diverse range of projects within the energy system, to get a more rounded view of how the energy system works.

What is your biggest achievement?

Probably being second team captain of my university’s golf team and winning the league undefeated.

What is your favourite thing about working at the EIC?

I like interacting with all the different people, making new relationships and connections, because I’m a social person.

Working on different projects all the time, two days are never the same at the EIC.

If you could invite any 3 people (living or deceased) to a dinner party, who would you invite and why?

Rory McIlroy, because he’s my favourite golfer. Albert Einstein, because he’s Albert Einstein! Lastly, Stephen Hawking.
